The History of METS 

Macquarie Employment Training Service Inc (METS) was established in 1989 as a not for profit service to assist people with a disability to gain and maintain open employment. A dedicated team in those early years helped establish METS as a successful service provider placing many people in jobs, including some as apprentices. 

In the late 1990's our then CEO, George Elliott, started to look at the options for up-skilling our clients via the use of accredited training. At first this was purely through sourcing relevant training courses, however partnerships with two Group Training Organisations (GTO's)were developed during this period allowing more opportunity for clients to enter into Apprenticeships and Traineeships.
 
In 1999, METS entered into a partnership arrangement with Jobs Australia Ltd, a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) based in Melbourne with several hundred members throughout Australia. This partnership allowed METS to commence delivery of accredited training. In the first instance we began to deliver via traineeships in Small Business, Retail and Business Administration qualifications. This training was not just delivered to our own clients, it quickly expanded to include those from the wider community. 

The year 2000 saw METS commence delivery of the Traineeship in Children's Services. A small target of 30 students was set for the first year with an end result of 50.   

Today we have over 400 students undertaking qualifications in Children's Services and Disability work, the majority of these as traineeships. We have over 300 employers that choose METS for their training needs,  a significant number of those being repeat users.

We also deliver training  under the Strategic Skills program and the Linked Skills program for both Children's Services and Disability Work.

METS strives to achieve recognition and respect within the training sector, to maintain our integrity as an ethical RTO and to deliver quiality training to our client base.
